New H200-30L High-Power Heated Recirculator
Precision Temperature Control for 50–100 L Jacketed Reactors
The Across International H200-30L Heated Recirculator is a high-power temperature control system designed for demanding laboratory, pilot-scale and production applications.
With its large heat-transfer capacity, high-performance circulation system and advanced temperature control, the H200-30L is particularly well suited for 50–100 L jacketed glass and stainless-steel reactors, where stable and responsive temperature control is critical.
Unlike conventional heaters that simply regulate the temperature inside the heating bath, the H200-30L can control the circulating heat-transfer medium or use the actual material temperature as the control target, providing significantly better process control for larger reactor systems. The controller supports multiple control-object configurations, including material temperature control with circulating-medium temperature used as a reference.
Designed for 50–100 L Reactors
Large reactors have significantly greater thermal mass than small laboratory vessels. As reactor volume increases, maintaining stable and responsive temperature control becomes increasingly challenging.
The H200-30L is designed to provide the heating and circulation capacity required for larger jacketed systems. A high-performance circulation pump continuously transfers thermal energy between the recirculator and the reactor jacket, while the closed-loop circulation design helps maintain consistent thermal conditions throughout the process.
The system is specifically designed for connection to sealed external applications such as reactors. The heat-transfer medium outlet connects to the lower reactor jacket port and returns through the upper port, promoting effective circulation through the jacket.
Recommended applications include:
- 50 L jacketed glass reactors
- 100 L jacketed glass reactors
- Stainless-steel process reactors
- Pilot-scale chemical synthesis
- Pharmaceutical and fine chemical processing
- Extraction and formulation
- Polymer and materials research
- Temperature-sensitive reaction processes
Precision Temperature Control
The H200-30L incorporates an advanced PID-based temperature control system with independently adjustable Proportional (P), Integral (I) and Derivative (D) parameters. Different control parameters can be applied across different temperature ranges, allowing the system to optimise control performance over a wide operating range.
The controller also provides automatic tuning to assist with temperature-control optimisation when required.
For demanding reactor applications, the system can select different temperature control targets, including:
Circulating Medium Control — controls the temperature of the thermal fluid supplied to the reactor.
Material Temperature Control — uses the actual reactor material temperature as the primary control variable.
Cascade / Reference Control — the material temperature can be used as the primary control target while the circulating-medium temperature is monitored or used as a reference.
This makes the H200-30L particularly suitable for large reactors where there can be a significant temperature difference between the circulating fluid and the actual product inside the vessel.
Programmable Heating & Temperature Profiles
For processes requiring more than a single set temperature, the H200-30L provides programmable temperature operation.
Users can create multi-step processes with individual temperatures and operating times. The controller can automatically progress from one temperature stage to another and can repeat programmed cycles where required.
For example:
25°C → Hold → 80°C → Hold → 150°C → Hold → Cool Down
This is particularly useful for synthesis, polymerisation, extraction, formulation and other processes requiring controlled heating profiles rather than simple ON/OFF heating.
Optional Active Cooling for Faster Cool-Down
For applications that require faster temperature reduction after heating, the H200-30L can be configured with an external active cooling option.
This allows an external cooling-water or chiller circuit to remove heat from the circulating thermal fluid, providing substantially faster cool-down than relying on natural heat loss from the reactor alone.
The controller includes provisions for switching cooling according to defined temperature conditions, while the manual specifies a cooling-water supply pressure of 1.5–4 bar and an optimal cooling-water temperature of 20–30°C.
This option is particularly valuable for 50–100 L reactors, where the thermal mass of the reactor, process material and heat-transfer fluid can otherwise result in long natural cooling times.
Optional Active Cooling: Add an external cooling-water or chiller connection for faster, controlled reactor cool-down.
Closed-Loop Thermal Fluid Circulation
The H200-30L uses a closed liquid circulation system, helping minimise exposure of the heat-transfer fluid to the atmosphere.
The expansion vessel is separated from the main liquid circulation circuit, helping reduce high-temperature oil mist and limiting oxidation and degradation of the thermal fluid. The manual also specifies a high-performance circulating pump designed for continuous 24-hour operation.
The same heat-transfer medium remains within the system throughout the heating and cooling process, allowing smooth transition between temperature stages without changing fluids.
Advanced Monitoring & Data Logging
The touchscreen controller provides real-time monitoring of the temperature-control process.
Users can view set temperature, measured material temperature, outlet temperature and equipment temperature as temperature curves. Historical temperature data can also be reviewed, and process data can be exported to a USB drive.
This makes it easier to verify heating profiles, investigate process deviations and maintain records for repeatable laboratory or pilot-scale processes.
Built for Reliable Continuous Operation
The H200-30L incorporates multiple monitoring and protection functions including temperature deviation alarms, over-temperature protection, circulation-pressure monitoring and system fault alarms.
The system also includes self-diagnostic and thermal protection functions designed to protect both the equipment and the connected process.
